Congrats to Federer!

Roger Federer claimed a record 6th title at the ATP World Tour, defeating competitor, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who had beaten him earlier in the season at the Wimbledon quarter-final. Federer admits he was having doubts after some crushing loses this season, “Same as Rafa (Nadal) at the French Open in the final, Novak in the semis of the US Open. It’s fine to respect that. But I feel when it happens that often, I do have to question myself that maybe I did something wrong.

According to an article in, The Telegraph, the 6-3, 6-7 (6/8), 6-3 triumph moved Federer`s record since the US Open to 17 wins and no defeats. In an interview, Federer answered questions regarding his mental state and what was going on in his head, “I think I’m mentally good right now. That was also one of the reasons why I did take some time off, to actually think it through, get into the right mental mindset.

“There is a lot of time that goes by out on tour, during a match, you’re just trying to stay positive, but you can’t always be positive out there. It’s just too difficult.

“That’s where maybe the doubts were just a bit too strong during certain important moments. I wanted to get that out of my system during the six-week break, and I was able to do that.”

Congratulations to Roger Federer on his exciting victory and hopefully there are many more to come!

If the shoes are worn down, a new pair of shoes would be a great gift for any player. The new Adidas Barricade 7, available in men`s and women`s sizes, is a perfect gift. It is stylish, comfortable and really is the gift that keeps giving with the how durable this shoe is. It will last even with the most active tennis player, not to mention, it comes with a 6-month outsole guarantee which won`t be needed, however, it`s nice to have that peace of mind.

Another perfect present for a tennis player is the Asics Gel-Resolution 3, enhanced with a new Flexion Fit Upper which makes for a flawless fit along with comfort and support. This racquet is made for players with a high-skill level, recommended for players with aggressive, long strokes. It is integrated with high-level DNX technology being used in the bridge of the racquet head for the first time.

BAGS

There is a wide range of bags from totes, racquet holders, backpacks and women`s bags. Tennis bags are great gift because they come in all different styles depending on the player`s personal fashion sense.

My personal favorite is the sleek and stylish, Cortiglia Marina Nero Tote, which was featured in Tennis Magazine and Daily Candy, made in Italy. It is a tennis tote but can easily double as a travel bag, purse or whatever the wearer chooses. It`s exterior has 2 zip compartments with magnetic protective flaps, top zip main compartment, side port hole for racquet handles and metal feet for protection. The interior has 1 zip pocket and 2 Tech pockets.

The Wilson Tour 9 Pack Tennis bag fits up to 9 racquets but the extra storage space can also hold clothes, accessories and whatever else you need to carry to and from the court. It has Wilson`s Thermoguard technology in both racquet compartments for ultimate racquet protection against heat and moisture.

The Volkl Team Pink Tennis Backpack is a perfect option for any budget. It`s great for racquets but can be used for anything. It is incredibly durable and holds up to 2 racquets.

Tennis equipment and accessories are perfect gifts for any tennis player, young, old, pro or beginner. Racquets, shoes and bags all offer the perfect combination of technology and style to allow any player to be the best at the game and express their fashion sense. Any tennis player will be overjoyed Christmas day when they find that Santa left them a great surprise under the tree!

Noah`s Comments on Doping

In an article posted on ESPN.com, it is clear how angry Rafael Nadal is about the recent comments made by Yannick Noah.  Noah made remarks about French athletes not having a chance against Spanish athletes because they, “don’t have the magic potion.” Noah was clearly insinuating that Spanish competitors are doping in order to win. When Nadal was asked about Yannick`s comments he fired back,  “This guy deserve not (to) write anymore in the newspaper.” Nadal also said that Yannick Noah`s comments don`t hurt the image of Spanish players, however, the they do reflect poorly on Noah`s native country.

Adidas Barricade 6.0: Not Just a Shoe

The term “barricade” is defined as, “to shut in and defend,” which is exactly what the Adidas Barricade 6.0 was designed to do. Just like Nick Hardwick, lineman for the SD Chargers, guards his quarter back, Rivers, or the sweeper on the soccer field defends his goalie; the Barricade 6.0 protects the foot. The updated version of the original Adidas Barricade has been improved and Adidas has implemented many technological advances in order to shelter and defend the foot, just like a barricade. The Adidas Barricade 6.0 is offered in both men`s and women`s versions; both varieties offer maximum comfort and protection and accommodate for different styles between genders.

The Upper
Designed with a textile lining, both versions of the 6th edition Adidas Barricade 6.0 offer the adiTUFF™ TPU toe protection guard to save the toe from abuse on the courts. They are designed with perforated leather and a padded mesh tongue for maximum breathability and comfort. Adidas has also employed stability claws to ensure steadiness throughout lateral movements and quick direction changes during an intense match. The external heel counters deliver added support of the foot.

The Midsole
The midsole of the Adidas Barricade 6.0 contains a molded EVA insole that can be removed if needed. The EVA insole along with the adiPRENE insert in the heel contributes to added relief on the foot and also provides impact protection. The TORSION System assists the foot with surface adaptation and extra support.

The Outsole
The outsole of the Adidas Barricade 6.0 is comprised of non-marking rubber and adiWEAR 6 for toughness on the court. The full herringbone pattern along with a forefoot pivot point ensures traction on all different court surfaces.

A serious tennis player requires quickness, agility and power; but none of that would be possible without the right shoe. With all the technology that Adidas has poured into the Barricade 6.0, it has taken on a new identity. It is not just a shoe, it’s the defensive line. That is the kind of protection that you can count on with the Adidas Barricade 6.0.

Serving You Tennis News

My name is Courtney, I am a San Diego native and a lover of all sports; a varsity soccer player on my high school team and a charger fan for life. Now on to something extremely important to me; tennis. Although I am not an expert at the game, I love the sport. Sports are not only great for physical health but challenge the mind as well. On the soccer field you have to be tricky, although not always the quickest, I could tackle the ball away from any opponent. Football requires pure force from the defense and great mental ability from the quarterback to place the ball right where he wants it under extreme pressure. Tennis is a game that depends on agility, speed, intelligence and finding that “sweet spot.” Nothing is more satisfying than swinging that racquet and hitting the ball with the perfect amount of power that you know will make your competitor’s head spin; all in good sportsmanship of course. As I said earlier, tennis is a game that requires intuition, skill, agility and speed. Any activities that you choose to participate in, you need the right tools. Tennis is no different; the game depends upon having the right equipment to ensure that the player is performing to best of their ability.  Racquets, shoes, bags, string, grips, accessories and gear are all key elements to the game. Here, I will tell you all you need to know about these components; the best racquet for you, how to choose the right pair of shoes, the bags that will protect your racquet and much more.
